If someone does something of note, you can be almost certain there’ll be a host of parodies following in its wake. Some are funny, some are in poor taste, some are better than the original and occasionally some have a message.
Along with the increase in hospital positions such as Donation Medical Specialist and Donation Nurse Specialist, and the emergence of agencies such as Donate Life, there has been an increase in efforts to raise community awareness of organ donation. FilmLife is another group that has been established to further the organ donation cause and it aims to use short film making to help spread the message. They recently held a short film competition, with the theme of “Make your wish count. Discover, decide and discuss organ and tissue donation”. The winner was Brooke Huuskes, who is herself a renal transplant recipient. You can check out her Gotye ‘parody’ below and then tell us what you think.
