“Now smacc this”
An update from @smaccteam
Details about workshops, program, simwars, sonowars, students, childcare, freepapers & posters, the smaccbar & smacclounge, the webiste and some key dates…
smaccGOLD registrations opened a fortnight ago with a BOOM. There were almost 200 registrations in the first day and already the Ultimate Ultrasound workshop has sold out. The airway workshop has a handful of places left and hot on its heels is the Education workshop. In fact all the workshops have been well received which reflects the feedback from this years meetings that workshops were wanted. Check out the line-up from ECMO to ECG and from Advanced Haemodynamics to CRRT.
You will have noticed that the program has expanded to incorporate a fourth concurrent session. Yes, we know that this will make your choices even harder but that’s part of the fun of smaccGOLD and of course it will all be recorded and released so that you can catch up later. Additionally in response to feedback we have balanced the program with a full spectrum of critical care topics addressing Anaesthesia, Emergency, Prehospital and Intensive Care medicine. Finally the smaccFORUM is enhancing the free-paper sessions by combining the best free-paper submissions with multiple Keynote presentations and a selection of the best PK’s.
A smacc2013 highlight this promises to be a favourite again. We encourage delegates to submit simwars entries again with a strong focus on combining education with entertainment and innovation. The best team and individual performances will judged and the winners combined with wild-card delegate entries to form teams for the live finals. To up the excitement the performing teams will each be coached by the likes of Scott Weingart, Cliff Reid, Ric Levitan and Karim Brohi to name a few!
It is hard to imagine how the extraordinary work of James Rippey and Lewis Macken at smacc2013 could get any better, but at smaccGOLD they will be joined by Matt Dawson and Mike Mallin from Ultrasoundpodcast. After Oliflower dressed in a Vagina suit this year for a demonstration of TV ultrasound, I don’t think anyone can guess what’s to come in 2014.
All students are invited to take advantage of the below cost price tickets which are limited to 50 places (tickets don’t include social functions). Additionally there are a number of competitions about to begin for FREE “Wonka smaccGOLDen” tickets so watch the website for details.
In response to requests from delegates we are asking for information at registration regarding potential childcare needs. If there is a need that we can meet we have been formulating contingencies depending on demand. Stay tuned…
Free papers and posters
Abstracts are currently being accepted with a closing date of November 26th. The best free paper submissions will be selected for presentation in the smaccFORUM. Additionally posters will be displayed on the e-poster screens along with the PK’s and simwars entries.
SmaccLOUNGE / smaccBAR:Want to catch up with a colleague over a beer, but don’t want to miss the conference. Check out the smaccBAR and smaccLOUNGE, which will be located in the centre of the exhibition area. Here the conference sessions will be beamed live so that you can chat and keep up with the proceedings at the same time (just like watching your favourite sport with friends).
