Home Beyond BASIC Nephrology Course. Taree, July 15.
basic nephrology

Want to learn more about crit care nephrology?

Beyond BASIC nephrology is now happening July 31st – August 1st at Manning Base Hospital, Taree.

The Beyond BASIC Nephrology course is run by the BASIC collaboration at multiple locations in a similar format to the original BASIC ICU course.

Candidates are sent course reading material and have to do the pre-course MCQs prior to the commencement of the course. The course runs over 2 days and covers renal physiology, pathology & renal replacement therapy. There are enough hands-on skill sessions for the candidates to clarify any questions they have on CRRT, IHD & hybrid techniques, case scenarios and how to dose drugs on dialysis.

The Faculty for the Instructor course includes Dr Gordon Choi (Intenisivist, Prince of Wales hospital, Hong Kong). Gordon is the creator of the Beyond BASIC Nephrology Course. He is an excellent teacher with a great understanding of acute nephrology & dialysis techniques including CRRT, IHD & hybrid techniques.

Other faculty includes Dr Nevin Chinnan (intensivist, Manning Base) , Dr Summet Rai ( Intensivist, The Canberra Hospital) and Dr Nudrat Rashid (Intensivist, RPAH).

There is also an instructor course where potential instructors will be trained to deliver the course material; Only practising intensivists can apply and numbers will be limited.
