Launch of Examination Intensive Care, 2nd Edition

Home Launch of Examination Intensive Care, 2nd Edition
Exam ICU book cover

Following on from the success of the first edition, published in mid-2007, this comprehensive textbook has been extensively revised and updated and will be published by the end of 2011.  However, if you are going to the Bedside Critical Care conference’s inaugural Registrars’ day on the 26th September, you will be able to attend the official Australian launch and meet the authors (some of whom just happen to be contributors to this site).

There will also be a launch of the book at the Annual Congress of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine being held in Berlin in the first week of October 2011, to reflect the fact that the book now covers all elements of the various ICU examinations in Europe.

What’s new in the 2nd Edition:

  • A chapter on Basic Sciences for intensive care medicine
  • Another for Equipment used in ICM, covering over 100 separate items; including photos and tables of relevant information for each
  • A chapter on Paediatric Intensive Care
  • Totally revised Anaesthetic content; changing the focus from the Anaesthetics College fellowship exam to the use of anaesthetics in ICM
  • Now extended to cover all elements of the various ICU examinations in Europe (i.e. DICM and EDIC) rather than just those for Australasia
  • An accompanying DVD that contains hundreds of pages of additional information, photos, flow-man diagrams, interactive recall cases and a pharmacology quiz:Examination Intensive Care DVD Menu
