Controversies in the Acute Management of ICH

Intracerebral hemorrhage has been a devastating disease for hundreds of years. There has sadly not been much in the way of novel treatment options, despite the advances of neurology, neurosurgery and neurocritical care. This presentation will cover the past, present and future as it pertains to some of the most challenging controversies in the last several years. Blood pressure control in the face of ATACH2 and INTERACT2 is covered with the 2015 AHA guidelines. Reversal of anticoagulation is a rapidly changing field, and review of the coagulation cascade and TSOACs are discussed. Finally – self fulfilling prophecy, scoring scales and prognosis will be reviewed with a word of caution to early prognosis! A final look to the future as it pertains to the management of this challenging disease will round out the conversation.
